Poland borders Germany to the west, the Czech Republic and Slovakia to the south, Ukraine and Belarus to the east, and the Baltic Sea to the north, Lithuania and Russia to the east. Poland shares maritime borders with Denmark and Sweden.
Dedicate an entire holiday to Poland, it's amazing how many experiences you can find there, in the country which, throughout history, has played such a central role. Take a ride to the International Lower Oder Valley National Park, created in 1995, and follow the River Oder for a length of 60 km. The German side is surrounded by a conservation area, the National Park Region Lower Oder Valley, comprising around 17,774 acres.
Ride out to the Masurian Lakes, or roughly 3,000 lakes located in Masuria, in northeastern Poland, 130-240 kilometers northeast of Warsaw. The lakes occurred during Pleistocene glaciation. Many hills in the area are moraines, and many of the lakes are fjord lakes. These lakes are historically known, from the First World War, when German forces, under the command of Field Marshal Paul von Hindenburg, defeated the Russian armies in two battles, in late 1914 and early 1915, and forced them out of East Prussia.
Every year, hundreds of thousands of people flock to the concentration camp museum in Auschwitz, to commemorate the one million people who died there. It is important, to remember the attacks on humankind, that took place here. It must never be forgotten. Poland joined the EU in 2004.
