Vlora is the city where the Albanian Declaration of Independence was proclaimed on November 28, 1912, and the city was for a short time the capital of Albania. Ride along the coast from here to Saranda, one of the most important attractions of the Albanian Riviera. It is situated on an open sea gulf of the Ionian Sea in the Mediterranean, 2 nautical miles from the Greek island of Corfu, and a good staging point for a trip to Corfu afterwards. The remains of the ancient city of Butrint, a UNESCO World Heritage site, are not too far from Saranda, so you should check that out also.
