The Dolomite Mountains, with their characteristic flat-crested, vertically monolithic appearance, is unique to the Alps, and are one of the great biking regions of the Alpine range. There many mountain passes within the same area, interconnected with interesting riding routes. The only thing is, they're a magnet for tourists, who like to drive their camper vans slowly, clogging up the mountain roads for other road users, so avoid high-season if you can. There are some nice towns to stay in, such as St. Vigilio, Corvara, Arabba or St. Leonhard, putting runs like Jaufenpass and Timmelsjoch well within reach for good day trips.
